In the dry climate of Crested Butte, xeriscapes are often a desireable option for creating low-water use landscapes. In xeriscapes, rocks combined with native plants create landscapes that require low or no irrigation. These landscapes have a clean and manicured appearance while being easy to maintain. Zeroscapes are comprised entirely of rocks and require no water to maintain their appearance. Most xeriscape projects are a combination of traditional xeriscape and zeroscape principles and are ideal for areas where water restrictions or cost make more ornamental gardens impractical.
